On Saturday, August 14, 2004 West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel was joined by family members of the late Warren Hawkins to dedicate the former Gaines Park pool as the Warren Hawkins Aquatic Center. Members or the Hawkins family spoke about Mr. Hawkins and his impact on the history of aquatics in West Palm Beach.

POOL PROGRAMS INFORMATION
Parent/Child Classes
To develop in youth (6 months through 5 years) a high comfort level in and around the water
as well as a readiness to swim. Instructors use play as a basic form of learning providing a fun
environment in the water. Parental involvement in the learning process is very important
in reinforcing their role in the child's develo pment. Parents in water participation required.

Ages: 2 - 5 years old
Days: Monday - Thursday
Time: 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm, 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm
5:30 pm - 6:00 pm, 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm

YOUTH SWIMMING PROGRAM

Beginner Swimming 1
To help children feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely. This courses
teaches elementary swimming and basic rescue skills.

Beginner Swimming 2
To teach fundamental skills: floating without support, recover to standing position, basic movement
and rescue skills.

Advance Beginners Swimming 3
Children will learn a variety of swimming strokes, (front crawl, back crawl, and elementary
back stroke). They will also learn treading fundamentals, rules for safe diving, and will learn
to dive from the side of the pool.

Ages: 6 – 17 years old
Days: Monday - Thursday
Time: 4:00 pm - 4:45 pm, 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm,
6:00 pm - 6:45 pm, 7:00 pm - 7:45 pm

It is never too late to learn how to swim. There are many situations that may require you to know how to swim to survive. Don’t be a victim of drowning.

Beginner Swimming—Level 1

WATER FITNESS PROGRAM “MOVE IT TO LOSE IT!”


Stay fit!!! Why do land exercise. Ease the stressful pounding on the joints and safely and effectively water walk. Learn how to safely exercise in the water.
