The
Fair Serves up Big Fun at Fair Time
|
|
Lots of Community Support all Year Through
|
Almost
800 thousand people came to The Fair in 2004. Most come as families.
Mothers and Fathers bring all the kids from toddlers to teens. Grandparents
like to come, too - to watch the little ones giggle through the rides.
And to be together - the whole family having a great time.
In March 2005,
The Fair celebrates its 54th year in Miami-Dade County. The Fair
Association hosts this annual 18 day event to raise funds that support
youth and adult achievement programs. Yet, The Fair is just one
part of what the association does for this community all year through.
Did you know that …
- The Miami-Dade
County Fair is not part of the county but is a privately operated
Not-for-Profit Corporation governed by a volunteer board of directors.
Located at The Fair Expo Center at SW 24th Street and 112th Avenue.
|
- Over
50,000 local students enter projects and competitions held at
The Fair each year. Most experience the thrill of receiving public
recognition for the first time, sharing with friends and family
a proudly displayed blue or red ribbon and a cash prize.
- The Fair
Association is committed to the entire community and uses
its facilities and resources to support student and youth
programs throughout the year.
The
Fair awards over $500,000 each year in scholarships, awards
and premiums.
The
Fair provides every Miami-Dade County student in both public
and private and parocial schools with free admission to The
Fair.
The
Fair is a major supporter of its neighbor, Florida International
University and has partnered with the county and F.I.U. to
design and organize shared parking and the development of
a Metro Dade bus terminal. In addition, The Fair has contributed:
|
|
Whether
its bringing families together to have fun at Fair time, helping
F.I.U. to exceed its goals, sharing its Fair Expo Center with the
Miami-Dade County Parks Department, supporting youth or helping
out the community at large as we did during the Mariel boat lift
by processing Cuban refugees or after Hurricane Andrew by housing
3,000 National Guard troops, The Fair is here to serve this community.
